What I've been told by several people....and a broker......is that after age 68 it's impossible to switch carriers or get first time insurance. I'm 78 now and each year have to show my efforts at staying current...........this year at renewal the insurer that's covered me on my Luscombe and then the Navion has required (due to my age) that I have a 3rd Class medical ........not BasicMed.

All you can do is talk with a broker that will try to find something for you.....pretty slim chance, but try.

Hi everyone. I am a new member even though I’ve had my Navion for 27 years. Presently she is getting fixed after an up-wheel landing. I had excellent insurance coverage so that I will not contribute much money into her resurrection. However, insurance will no longer insure me after more than 20 years of doing so.

My question is: is there anyone else in this same situation? And if so, how are you dealing with it? I even asked about liability only and they gave me a quote for $10,000.00 per year for a 1 million coverage, no hull.

I certainly do not want to get rid of her or stop flying altogether. There’s gotta be a way to continue flying.

I feel I should say that I am 75 years young. This is what insurance claims the reason for the refusal.
